I am a contemporary light and illumination artist who paints and sculpts natural and computer programmed Light, with reflection, movement and shadows.
I also produce large scale sculpture and installations with themes based on environment, colonialism and consumerism.
I am an experimental and experiential artist. I have not made a conscious effort to develop a style; I have let it happen to me. I began painting, drawing and playing music at a young age in India. I was an itinerant apprentice if you will, since I was 12, with established artists, sculptors, commercial painters, textile and fabric designers, and musicians. I learned techniques of material preparation, oil and linen painting, sculpture and music from these “gurus”.
I also performed and recorded with iconic jazz musicians in avant-garde ensembles for several years.
I amalgamate my scientific and technical experiences, my involvement with environmental and waste management issues, and musical and performance experiences in my art work.
